Finding a Teacher that’s Right for You – Part 2

Rev Kristin

In Part 1 we took a look at a few points to consider in any new teacher and/or teaching. Social Media is filled with people who have what they promote as a good teaching. How do you know truth from hype? Our first three suggestions are:

✔️  Ask them how they got through their own tough times.

✔️  Try not to wait until there’s an emergency.

✔️  Take a look to see what the Universe is reflecting back to you.

Now its time to dig a little deeper and discover what your values are and to see if there’s a match between what matters to you and what matters to someone you’re considering as a teacher.

✔️  Value for Value

What matters to you should also matter to your Spiritual teacher/home.

Do you know what your values are or are you curious to find out?
       Check out the list below

Pay attention to your Intuition and

your own innate knowing of what is right for you

Do you feel happy, excited when you hear the truth of your heart?

When I heard a Practitioner say “We believe in Service, Prayer and Play”, I was in! I had never heard of a spiritual group honoring the power of play.

Play was a key word for me because it had been missing in my life.

What are your key words that light up all your feelings of

YES? Take a look at the example below. Journal on it. Click on the pic for a link to a blank page you can print.

✔️ Be Curious!

  • Ask questions
  • Interview the people connected to what you’re learning
  • Take a class
  • Attend a service
  • Join a Zoom
  • Read a blog

What kind of vibe do you get?
Does it match your feeling of YES!

Here’s a quick tip. Pay attention to how you feel after an interaction.

  • Do you have more energy?

  • Feel ready to get started?

  • Are you smiling or feel lighter?

Congratulations. It’s probably a good match for you. If you feel less energy, tense, tired, then this is a sign that it’s probably not a match.
