Unity in Your Community – Part 2

WHAT MAKES A HEALTHY SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY?

What to consider as you check out different spiritual centers.

Hi Beloved,

I’m Susan Espinosa, a Practitioner with the Center for Spiritual Living Camarillo (CCSL). We’re sharing a blog series that helps you identify the type of spiritual center that fits your needs and wants.

WHAT IS A HEALTHY SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY?

In a Spiritual community, giving and kindness are to be expected. What distinguishes a healthy community will be how they handle problems. Any community will have issues surface from time to time. It’s just the nature of groups to have different points of view and not all views will agree.

To determine if the community you’re considering is the right fit for what matters to you consider:

Do they blame or give everyone a chance to be heard?

Do they have cliques that take sides or do they promote solutions  that work for all?

When emotions rise, how is the leadership handling the tension?

At CCSL, one of the first things we do is to bring everyone together in prayer or affirmative statements. It’s not an easy thing to do when emotions are high. These statements remind us that the Universe is present and that we have access to it. Group prayer is a powerful ally when we remember it as our first go to in any situation where its needed.
